Congregational Growth Objectives

Our shared goals as a community of believers dedicated to growing in Christ.

1. To read, meditate, understand, and apply God’s Word to my life as often as possible.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (II Timothy 2:15)

In Daily Life: Set aside 15 minutes each morning before checking your phone to read a chapter of scripture. Write down one practical way you can apply what you read to your day, such as showing patience to a difficult coworker.

2. To transform and renew my mind toward God, and reject all occasions to do wrong.

"Abstain from all appearance of evil." (I Thessalonians 5:22)

In Daily Life: Be intentional about the media you consume. Choose to walk away from gossip at work or change the channel when a show promotes values contrary to God's, guarding your mind and heart.

3. To be committed to the work and fellowship, support leadership, and maintain a positive attitude.

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men..." (Philippians 4:4-7)

In Daily Life: When a change is announced by church leadership, intentionally look for the positive rather than complaining. Volunteer to help organize a fellowship event, bringing joy and a helpful spirit to the team.

4. To develop as a leader and good example in appearance, lifestyle, and behavior.

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (I Timothy 4:12-13)

In Daily Life: Ensure your social media posts reflect your faith. Whether at the grocery store or a family gathering, respond to frustration with grace so that others clearly see Christ in your actions.

5. To be a cheerful giver, and learn to accept and share in God’s concept of love.

"These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." (John 15:11-12)

In Daily Life: Look beyond just financial giving; cheerfully give your time by listening to a neighbor who is struggling. Accept help when you need it, allowing others the blessing of showing you God's love.

6. To regularly pray for opportunity, courage, and guidance in sharing God’s Word.

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication... And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel." (Ephesians 6:18-19)

In Daily Life: Keep a prayer list on your phone of three friends who don't know Christ. Pray specifically every Tuesday that God gives you a natural, unforced moment to share how your faith has helped you.

7. To share God’s Word and perform random acts of kindness every day.

"I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house... Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 20:20-21)

In Daily Life: Pay for the coffee of the person behind you in the drive-thru, or send a text with an encouraging scripture to a friend you haven't spoken to in a while just to brighten their day.

8. To be patiently supportive with others who seek to develop their relationship with Christ.

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men." (I Thessalonians 5:14)

In Daily Life: If a new believer asks questions that seem obvious to you, answer them with gentleness and enthusiasm rather than judgment. Check in on them mid-week to see how they are doing.

9. To receive and give encouragement, and motivate others by attending worship each week.

"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another..." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

In Daily Life: Make Sunday worship a non-negotiable priority on your calendar. Make it a point to greet at least two people you don't know very well each Sunday, telling them you're glad to see them.

10. To humble myself and rely on God’s Grace and Providential Will in all situations and circumstances.

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (II Corinthians 12:9)

In Daily Life: When faced with an unexpected financial bill or a health scare, pause before panicking. Pray a simple prayer of surrender: "Lord, I don't know how to fix this, but I trust Your grace to carry me through it."
